Retro 50s rockabilly, indie-surfer cool and nu-wave punk are the three key hair trends that we are seeing this year according to Anne-Marie Butler, Salon Partner for Oscar Oscar Salons in Pacific Fair on the Gold Coast.
Anne-Marie was recently interviewed by the Gold Coast Bulletin for her expert advice on men’s styling trends and also worked with photographer Kit Wise to create this incredible men’s hair shoot.
CLASSIC RETRO-ROCKABILLY: “This requires a cut that is longer on top and shorter on the sides. These styles look great when worn with a deep-side part and slicked back with gel or pomade, or worn as a quiff with plenty of height.”
NU-WAVE PUNK: “For this look the sides were also slicked back, but for the top we created curl and texture to give the hair an edge. This look works well with Redken Powder Grip, which you use to mould and shape the hair.”
SURFER COOL: “Guys don’t want clean fluffy hair, they want hair that is a bit lived-in. like they have just gone for a surf, so adding a texturising product to their hair is essential.”
